My relationship with the natural world is that I can sometimes go to natural landscapes on some occasions I like to take pictures of fields, sunrise's and sunsets. I like to go to parks where there is a big view so the picture doesn't look boring and plain. I think people take pictures of the natural world because it can make them feel peaceful and happy. Photographs can sometimes change the way we see things because someone can take a nice picture of a place and it can make a person think good of the place.
The idea of landscapes:
Roger Fenton - "The valley of the shadow of death", 1855The photographer has chosen to include an isolated place with no trees or any sign of life. In the composition, the things that might have been excluded can maybe have been green trees because it isnt really usual to have them in a deserted place. The photographer has maybe taken a photo because they might like isolated places where there is no one around. The vantage point of the photograph is at quite a low point which means the view is kind of hidden. The distant between us and the landscape are close because we can see the shadows of the rocks on the floor. The mood of this place looks really quiet and boring.

Richard Prince - Untilted (cowboy), 1989
The photographer has decided to include a person on a horse with an explosion in the background meaning the person could be at war. They might have excluded dead bodies because they might have known the photo was gonna be going out to the public. The photographer may like war, violence and fight this can result in them taking photographs of it. The vantage point of the photograph is taken from a middle point at the angle of the horse. we are at a mid range from a landscape this is shown by how close we are to the smoke. If we was close to the landscape the photo would be covered by the smoke. The feeling this landscape gives of is that it is violent because it seems the picture was taken during a war.

constructed seascapes
Both of these photographs describe the atmosphere of the ocean. They both contain waves, and they look like they have been taken in the night time, this is shown by the reflection of the water. The difference's I notice is that the one on the right is made from a collage using multiple pieces of paper whereas the one on the left is taken from a normal perspective and it looks as if it hasn't been edited. The words that describe these photos could be that they are boring, basic and usual. I would personally like to live in the one on the right because it looks very peaceful.
Minimalistic Landscapes
In both of these images I can see they both have some type of trees, But Liz Nielsens picture looks like it has been made with a piece of paper and some black card that has been stuck over to make a shape that looks like a tree Whereas Geraldo de Barros has taken a picture of what looks like to be a landscape but has cut it out so its only the tree and stuck it to a black piece of paper. These photos both look like they have been created and taken in a quiet and peaceful environment where there is not much people around. I prefer Liz Nielsens photo because it looks more creative and it looks better then just taking a photo and sticking it on a piece of card. I also spotted that Geraldo de Barros has edited his picture so it is black and white it also has some shades of grey to it. If i had to attempt to make images like these I would try to make something like the one on the left because it looks more eye catching then the one on the right, I would start of by cutting random pieces of black card and stick it to some a4 paper while it is landscape and try create a landscape of nature. In the picture on the left it looks like there has been a surface that has been added but the one on the right has no surface and its just the tree.
